What is FontScanner?
FontScanner finds the fonts used on a website, inside a PDF, or in a screenshot and puts them in a report. Commercial typefaces are flagged so you can review them. You can also schedule recurring website scans, run a free homepage check, use the Chrome extension, keep a license inventory, or — on Enterprise — wire scans into CI, or run the whole product on-prem.
Is it free to try?
Yes. The Quick Website Font Checker checks a homepage with no account (two per day per IP). Image identifications are also free twice per day per IP; after that, sign in — further image scans use 1 credit. Create an account and get 1 scan credit — no credit card — for a website or PDF. Extra scans are sold as credits that never expire.
Which fonts does it find?
On websites: Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts (Typekit), Bunny Fonts, self-hosted WOFF/WOFF2 files, system fonts, icon fonts, and fonts loaded via CSS or JavaScript. In PDFs: embedded text fonts. In images: visible type in a screenshot, logo, or mockup, matched against our catalog.
Can it scan a PDF?
Yes. Upload a PDF up to 10 MB. We extract embedded fonts and flag commercial typefaces. A PDF scan costs 1 credit, same as a website scan.
Can I schedule recurring scans?
Yes. In the dashboard you can run a website daily, weekly, or monthly — in our cloud and on-prem. Each scheduled cloud run uses 1 credit, same as a manual website scan.
Can it identify a font from an image?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF (max 5 MB). We match visible text and flag commercial licensing risk. The first 2 identifications per IP each day are free; after that, signed-in members use 1 credit per image.
What is the Quick Website Font Checker?
A free, no-account homepage check. Paste a URL and see which fonts load on that page, including commercial flags. Two checks per day per IP. A full-site crawl still needs an account.
Is there a Chrome extension?
Yes — it's free on the Chrome Web Store. The FontScanner extension reads fonts on the tab you have open — computed styles and @font-face — on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you continue on fontscanner.app for a license check, full scan, or image match.
Do you have an API for developers?
Yes — on the Enterprise plan. In our cloud, contact sales for an API key. On-prem includes CI/CD for website and PDF scans.
Can we run FontScanner on-premises?

Do you also manage licenses?
